Newcastle is the world’s biggest coal export port. The pollution from our coal exports is larger than all of Australia’s greenhouse emissions combined.
In a world of more frequent extreme weather events, dwindling fresh water supplies and food security, finite fossil fuel resources, melting icecaps and rising sea levels, we are getting closer to tipping points which could change the ecological conditions that humanity has been used to for thousands of years.
Governments in Australia are scared of the power of the big polluting corporations – but we are not. History has shown us repeatedly that when ordinary people take persistent direct action, there is little we cannot achieve.
We are on a path to a sustainable and renewable future, but it will take courage and cooperation from all of us – including you!
